Optional Cisco-Supplied Cabinet
A cabinet is available from Cisco to install the Cisco MGX 8220 shelf, the Cisco BPX 8600 series
wide-area switch, the ESP, and the Cis co IGX 8400 series wide-area switch. Systems preconfigured in
a Cisco-supplied ca bi ne t can be ordered fro m C isco.
The cabinet is a 19-inch r ac k with panels on all sides ex cept the front. The rear pa ne l i s a louvered
hinged door. The top and bottom are a lso cover ed . Th e c abinet is equipped with casters, b r ake s, an d
leveling bolts (see Figure 2- 9) . H o le s at th e base allow the cabinet to be s ecu r ed to t he floor for
earthquake safety.
Note Modules are installed in the cabi ne t i n th e sa me manner as installed in a 1 9-in ch r ac k.
Modules are installed by insertin g them into the front of the cabine t an d a ttaching them to the internal
racks. All cables are connected th r ou gh t he r ear d o or.

The vertical height of the cabinet (inclu di ng c a s te rs) is 80.31 inches pr oviding 71.81 inches (41 rack-
mounting units) of vertica l r ac k space.
The cabinet is 23 inches wide an d 3 6 i n ch es d eep . Since Cisco MGX 8220 modules are t ypically
22inches deep, the cabinet provides approximately 12 inches of space behind the mounted Cisco
MGX 8220 modules for cables and cable management hardware.
