Installing the SAS Backplane

1Position the SAS backplane so that the securing tabs on the chassis are fully inserted into the securing slots on the backplane (see Figure 3-32).

2Slide the backplane to the right until the release pin snaps into place.

3Reconnect the following cables to the backplane (see Figure 3-32):

SAS cable

Power cable

Backplane cable

4Reseat the hot-plug hard drives in the system (see "Installing a Hot- Pluggable Hard Drive" on page 78).

NOTE: Reinstall the hard drives in the same drive bays from which they were removed.

5Replace the processor airflow shroud (see "Installing the Processor Airflow Shroud" on page 72).

6Replace the system cover (see "Installing the System Cover" on page 67)..

Removing the Control Panel

CAUTION: Only trained service technicians are authorized to remove the system cover and access any components inside the system. Before performing any procedure, see your Product Information Guide for complete information about safety precautions, working inside the computer, and protecting against electrostatic discharge.

1Turn off the system and attached peripherals, and disconnect the system from the electrical outlet and from the peripherals.

2Remove the system cover (see "Removing the System Cover" on page 66).

3Remove the front-drive bezel (see "Removing the Front Bezel" on page 63).
