2.Remove the metal bay plate by doing the following:

a.Insert a large flat-blade screwdriver in the slot in the center of the plate and pivot the screwdriver up until the plate bends up enough for you to grasp it with your fingers.

b.Use your fingers to bend the plate up and down until it breaks away from the frame.

c.Discard the metal bay plate.

3.Slide the new drive into bay 2.

4.Locate the appropriate signal cable connector and an unused power connector; then attach the connectors to the drive. Make sure connectors are fully seated.

Note:

If you are installing an IDE drive, and the spare connector on the IDE cable will not reach the new drive, disconnect the connector on the end of the cable from the factory-installed hard disk drive and use that connector for the new drive. Then, connect the spare connector to the factory-installed hard disk drive.

5.Position the drive so the four mounting-screw holes on the drive align with the four holes on the frame. Then, install the four mounting screws, through the frame and into the drive.

6.If you are installing a drive that has its own face plate, such as a diskette drive, tape drive, or DVD-ROM drive, adjust the drive front to rear so the front face plate aligns with the front panel of the computer.

7.Tighten all four mounting screws.

8.If you installed a drive that does not have its own face plate, reinstall the bay panel you removed earlier.
