Java Applications and GPS Enabled
Some Java applications can make use of your
phone’s GPS feature to determine the approximate
geographical location of your phone. (See “GPS
Enabled” on page 12 0 for more informatio n on the
GPS feature.) However, for privacy reasons, you
may not always want Java applications to access
the location of yo ur phone. Your phon e protects your
privacy by giving you the option to block all or some
Java applications f rom accessing the location of
your phone.

Setting Privacy for All Java

Applications

These options control the pr ivacy of all Java
applications on your phone:
• Restricted — No Java or similar software
applications may a ccess the location of your
phone. However, location info rmation may still be
available to the phone’s owner, fleet manager, or
account administrat or.
• Unrestricted — All Java applications may acce ss
the location of your phone, without no tifying you.
•By Permission — When a Jav a application
attempts to access the location of your phon e,
you are prompted to give permission. However,
location information may still be available to the
phone’s owner, fleet manager, or accoun t
administrator.

information on choo sing these options.

Granting or Denying Permissi on

If you choose By Permissio n, you must grant or
deny each Java ap plication access to t he location of
your phone when the application requests access
for the first time. You may be required to grant or
deny subsequent re quests from the same
application, depend ing on the privacy s etting you
choose for the individual Java application (see
“Setting Privacy for Each Java Application” on page
119).
When a Java application requests access the
location of your phone, a screen appears informing
you.
To deny this request:

access the location of your phone.
