GPS Enabled
The number of satellites used to calculate the
location. In general, more sa tellites make for
better accuracy.
To calculate your locatio n ag ai n:
Press A under Refresh.
It may take your phone several minutes to complete
the process of determini n g yo ur l oca tio n. Dur i ng th is
time, a message usually appe ars on your phone’s
display saying y our phone is scanning for satellites.
For tips on getting the best location calculation, see
“Enhancing GPS Performance”.
The Position screen displays the updated
information.
To cancel a location calculation before it is
completed:
Press A under Cancel to return to the Position
screen. -or-
Press e to return to the idle sc reen.
Each time approximate location of your phone is
calculated, the latest loc ation information is stored in
your phone and remai ns there even when your
phone is powered off. You will see this infor m a tio n
the next time you view the Position screen.
If you received a ph one call or alert wh ile attempting
to determine your location , the Position screen will
disappear, but your phone will continue attempting
to determine its location. If it is succes sf ul, the ne w
location information will be displayed the next time
you view the Position screen .
Enhancing GPS Performanc e
Sometimes the GPS featur e of yo ur ph on e ma y be
unable to complete a location c alculation
successfully. If this happens when you are making
an emergency call, t he location of the ne arest cell
tower in contact wi th your phone is made a vailable
to the appropriate emerge ncy response center if the
center has the capability to rece ive such
information. If this happen s whe n yo u ar e tryin g to
view your location on the phone’s displ ay, you will
see a message indicating tha t yo ur ph one cannot
access satellites.
