!The setting for User Function 92: Return Receipt does not affect the Error MDN message.

An Error MDN will be returned to the sender if

·a file other than the TIFF formats compatible with this Internet Fax is received

and

·User Function 73: ERR. REPORT (MCF) is set to

ON

!When User Function 92: Return Receipt is set to ON, anyone who receives a transmission from your machine will return an MDN confirmation. To print the confirmation, you must set User Function 86: Text Print to ON.

User Function 92: Return Receipt determines if the Message Disposition Notification (MDN) is added to transmissions.

MDN (Message Disposition Notification) is a request for confirmation on whether or not the message has been read.

If MDN is set to ON, a confirmation is returned if the recipient is

·an Internet Fax machine or

·a mail client that supports MDN

The format of the confirmation depends on the type of the receiving Internet Fax or mail client. If the recipient has the same Internet Fax machine as yours, a notification in the RFC-compliant format (shown in the example below) will be transmitted.
