Devoting the service policy profile to an interface

Any service policy profile needs to be bound to a certain IP interface to get activated. According the terminol- ogy of OnSite a service policy profile is used on a certain IP interface, as shown in figure 23.

Therefore the use profile service-policycommand allows attaching a certain service policy profile to an IP interface that is defined within the IP context. This command has an optional argument that defines whether the service policy profile is activated in receive or transmit direction.

Providers may use input shaping to improve downlink voice jitter in the absence of voice support. The default setting no service-policysets the interface to FIFO queuing.
