Adjusting source levels
SLA(source level adjustment) lets you adjust
thevolume level of each source to prevent ra-
dicalchanges in volume when switching be-
tweensources.
!Settingsare based on the FM volume level,
whichremains unchanged.
1 Comparethe FM volume level with the
levelof the source you wish to adjust.
2 TouchSource Level Adjuster on the DSP
functionmenu.
3 Touchcor dto adjust the source vo-
lume.
Eachtime you touch cor dit increases or de-
creasesthe source volume.
+4to 4is displayed as the source volume is
increasedor decreased.
Notes
!TheAM volume level can also be adjusted
withsource level adjustments.
!VideoCD, CD, compressed audio and DivX
areset to the same source level adjustment
volumeautomatically.
!Externalunit 1 and external unit 2 are set to
thesame source level adjustment volume
automatically.
!AUX(auxiliary input) and AV (AV input) are set
tothe same source level adjustment volume
automatically.
Using the dynamic range control
Thedynamic range refers to the difference be-
tweenthe largest and softest sounds. The dy-
namicrange control compresses this
differenceso that you can clearly hear sounds
evenat low volume levels.
!Thedynamic range control is effective only
onDolby Digital sounds.
!Whenplaying other than the DVD disc, you
cannotswitch to Dynamic Range Control.

DSPfunction menu.
2 Touchdto turn the dynamic range con-
trolon.

Using the down-mix function
Thedown-mix function allows you to play back
multi-channelaudio in 2 channels.
1 TouchDown Mix on the DSP function
menu.
2 Touchcor dto select the desired level.
!Lo/RoStereo mix the original audio that
donot contain channel modes such as sur-
roundcomponents.
!Lt/RtDown mix so that the surround
componentscan be restored (decoded).
Using the directcontrol
Youcan override audio settings to check for ef-
fectivenessof your audio settings.
!Allaudio functions are locked out when the
directcontrol is on except VOL and
DolbyPro Logic II.
1 TouchDigital Direct on the DSP func-
tionmenu.
2 Touchdto turn the direct control on.
#Toturn direct control off, touch c.
Using the Dolby Pro Logic II
DolbyPro Logic II creates five full-bandwidth
outputchannels from two-channel sources to
achievehigh-purity matrix surround.
!DolbyPro Logic II supports up to 48 kHz
samplingrate stereo source and has no ef-
fecton other types of source.
!Whenboth the center speaker and the rear
speakerare set to OFF in the speaker set-
ting,you cannot switch to
DolbyPro Logic II.
