XAngle brackets < > enclose a list from which you must choose an item in format and syntax descriptions.
XA vertical bar ( ) separates items in a list of choices. In the following example, you must specify add or replace (but not both):
[AttributeName]
<add replace> = Attribute [,Attribute]
