Entering Text

Selecting a TextInputMode

Your phone provides convenientways to enter words, letters,
punctuation, and numbers whenever you are prompted to
enter text(for example, when adding a Contacts entry or
when using SprintMail and SMS TextMessaging).
1. From a screen where you can enter text, press the right
softkey to change the textinput mode.
2. Selectone of the following options:
nT9 Wordto enter text using a predictive textsystem
thatreduces the number of keypresses required
while entering a word. (See page 31.)
nAlphabetto enter characters by using the Alphabet
mode. (See page 33.)
nSYMBOLto enter symbols. (See page 34.)
nSMILEYSto enter smile icons. (See page 34.)
nEmoticonsto enter “emoticons.”(See page 34.)
nWeb Shortcutsto enter Web shortcuts (for example,
www., http://, or .com).
nPresetMessages to enter preset messages.
(See page 34.)
nRecentMessages to enter messages used recently.
nPaste Listto paste copied or cut text (if applicable).
nFr. Schedule Listto extractthe schedule items you
have added to your Calendar. (See page 134.)
Note The menus displayed vary according to the entry field. If you
see triangles on the rightof the menu, you can press the right
and leftnavigation keys to switch between related menus.
