Printing: Beyond the Basics 5

Setting the Check Print timeout

At the printerÕs front panel, scroll to the Printer Defaults menu, then scroll to Check Print Timeout to reset the timeout value. Refer to page 6-1 for information on using the printerÕs front panel.

Using Image Smoothing

Image Smoothing blends the adjacent colors in low-resolution images for smoother color transitions. For example, use Image Smoothing to improve the appearance of a 72-dpi image downloaded from the World Wide Web. Image Smoothing is not recommended for 300-dpi or higher images.

There are three ways of selecting Image Smoothing:

Through the printerÕs front panel.

In a supported printer driver, check the Image Smoothing box on.

Through one of the following PostScript utility Þles:

Macintosh file name

PC file name

Image Smoothing On

SMOOTHON.PS

Image Smoothing Off

SMOOTHOFF.PS

Refer to the printerÕs CD-ROM for instructions on downloading utility Þles.
