SNMP Management

Beginning with SMS2.3.6, the SMS supports remote SNMP management. SNMP System Contact and System Location will be reported in the SNMP system OID. All SMS OIDs are read-only. An SNMP trap is sent to the trap-recipient when the SMS boots or reboots. By default, the SNMP agent is disabled.

SNMP Agent

To enable the SNMP agent, type:

snmp enable

To disable the SNMP agent, type:

snmp disable

To view the SNMP agent status, type:

show snmp status

SNMP System Contact

To specify the SNMP System Contact, type:

snmp system-contactsystem-contact-string

For example,

SMS2000% snmp system-contact “Some Person”

Note: Place the system contact in quotes if it includes spaces

To view SNMP System Contact information, type:

SMS000$ show snmp system-contact

SNMP System Location

To specify the SNMP System Location, type:

snmp system-locationsystem-location-string

For example,

SMS2000% snmp system-location “Basement 123 Any St, New York, NY 10001 USA”
