Chapter 3: Installation

3.3.4Connecting Power to the 2E42-27R or 2E43-27R

NOTE

The 2E42-27R and 2E43-27R have two power supplies with automatic voltage sensing that allows connection to power sources ranging from 100–125 Vac or 200–250 Vac, 50/60 Hz.

To connect the 2E42-27R or 2E43-27R to the power sources, proceed as follows:

1.Plug each power cord into a grounded wall outlet, see Figure 3-5. To take advantage of the load sharing and redundancy capabilities, each power cord must be plugged into a dedicated ac outlet. The POWER LED turns ON (green) and the CPU LED turns ON (green) briefly.

NOTE

It takes approximately one minute for the 2E42-27R or 2E43-27R to boot up.

2.Observe the LANVIEW LEDs. After a successful boot, the CPU LED turns ON (green). If the CPU LED is not green after one minute and turns yellow, there is no power redundancy. Check the power cord connections and the power source. If there are no problems with the power cord connections or power source and the CPU LED is still not green, contact the Cabletron Systems Global Call Center. Refer to Section 1.6 for details.
