7.1THE COMMAND SET

The modem responds to a superset of Hayes Smartmodem commands. (Additional commands use the prefixes $, %, ), *, -, :, @, and \.) The modem also stores configuration settings in a set of registers. These are similar to the Hayes Smartmodem registers, although some have enhanced modem features.

NOTE

Factory defaults for commands and registers work with many installations; you may never need to change the default settings.

7.1.1Entering Commands

Each command line must begin with the characters AT (the ATtention code). Both characters of the attention code must be in either upper case or lower case, but you may type the commands in any combination.

Type commands after the OK response. The modem ignores spaces between characters. If you make a mistake press the backspace key

( Cntrl-H ) and type the correct character. To make a command take effect, press <Enter>.
