Removing an Expansion Card
CAUTION: Only trained service technicians are authorized to remove the system cover and access any of the components inside the system. See your Product Information Guide for complete information about safety precautions, working inside the computer, and protecting against electrostatic discharge.
1Turn off the system and attached peripherals, and disconnect the system from the electrical outlet.
2Open the system. See "Opening the System" on page 53.
3Disconnect any internal or external cable(s) that are connected to the expansion card.
4Open the
5Grasp the expansion card and carefully remove it from the socket connector.
6If you are permanently removing the card, replace the metal filler bracket over the empty
NOTE: Filler brackets must be installed over empty
7Close the
8Close the system. See "Closing the System" on page 53.

Removing an Internal SCSI Tape Backup Unit

1Turn off the system, including any attached peripherals, and disconnect the system from the electrical outlet.
2Remove the front bezel, if attached. See "Removing the Bezel" on page 50.
3Open the system. See "Opening the System" on page 53.
4Push the
5Disconnect the ribbon and power cables on the back of the unit.
6Remove the tape backup unit from the system.
7If you are not replacing the unit, insert the filler plate(s) in the peripheral bay.
