9. From the matrix_rec window, right‑click on the ﬁrmware package ﬁle and select the

Extract Here option.

NOTE: The ﬁrmware ﬁles are extracted to a subdirectory that is automatically

named according to the package ﬁle, e.g. VNRecorder_verx.xx.x (where x

represents the version number). The directory path can be changed by renaming

the folder after extraction has been completed (optional).

Gathering Firmware Installation Information

It is important to gather the current manufacturing and license details before installing new

ﬁrmware onto the VNM Recorder. The config.xml and the admin.xml ﬁles are used for

reference when installing ﬁrmware. To access these ﬁles, use the following procedure.

1. From the VNM Recorder desktop, double‑click on Computer > Filesystem >

home > matrix_rec.

2. Double‑click on the folder that contains that latest release of the recorder software

(at the time this guide was released, the latest software would be stored in the 3.10.9

folder or in a folder with a similar name).

3. Right‑click on the config.xml ﬁle and select the Open with "Emacs Text Editor"

option. A text window appears containing information needed to complete the ﬁrmware

installation. This text window should be kept open or printed out for reference.

4. Repeat steps 1 through 3 for the admin.xml ﬁle.
