8.2.2.2Installing a non-hot-plug expansion card

ÊOpen the expansion card lock by lifting it up (1). The expansion card is now mechanically unlocked.

ÊRemove the slot cover (2).

VCAUTION!

Keep the slot cover of the PCI slot. If you remove the controller again and do not replace it with a new one, the slot cover must be reinstalled to comply with EMC regulations and to satisfy cooling requirements and fire protection measures.

ÊInsert the new expansion card into the provided slot.

ÊClose the expansion card lock by folding it down. Make sure that the expansion card lock engages.

ÊIf necessary, connect the cables on the expansion card.

ÊClose the server (see "Opening/Closing the server" on page 125).
