Chapter 2: Preparing for a Disaster

Software Information

Maintain the following up-to-date information regarding computer software:

•Copies of the original operating system media and patches (and where they are located)

•Software enabler and authorization codes

•Software vendor contact information and contract number

• The operating system version and patches installed					2
•	Operating system configuration
• Emergency media that can be used to restore a computer in the event of a
	disaster
• NetWorker bootstrap information for each NetWorker server
• Kernel configuration and location
•	Device drivers
• A list of any Windows volume mount points.
Table 1 lists where to obtain software information for a specific operating
system.
