Default Delays If you do not specify a trigger delay, the multimeter automatically determines a delay time (default delay) based on the present measurement function, range, resolution, integration time and AC filter bandwidth setting. The delay time is actually the settling time required before measurements to ensure measurement accuracy. The default delay time is automatically updated whenever you change the function or range. Once you specify a delay time value, however, the value does not change until you specify another value, reset the multimeter or do a CONF or MEAS command. The table below shows the default trigger delay times for all functions. This delay will occur before each measurement (see the trigger system diagram in Figure 2-1 on page 45).

NOTE: You can specify a shorter delay time than the default values shown.

However, the shorter settling time may not produce accurate measurements.
