HP E1312A and HP E1412A Multimeter Error Messages

The following sections describe the types of errors the HP E1312A and HP E1412A report; Execution Errors, Self-Test Errors and Calibration Errors. The error code is given (e.g., -101) followed by the associated error message and a description of what the error message means.

Execution Errors

-101Invalid character

An invalid character was found in the command string. You may have inserted a character such as #, $, or % in the command header or within a parameter. Example: CONF:VOLT#DC

-102Syntax error

Invalid syntax was found in the command string. You may have inserted a blank space before or after a colon in the command header, or before a comma. Example: SAMP:COUN ,1

-103Invalid separator

An invalid separator was found in the command string. You may have used a comma instead of a colon, semicolon, or blank space – or you may have used a blank space instead of a comma. Example: TRIG:COUN,1

or CONF:FREQ 1000 0.1

-104Data type error

The wrong parameter type was found in the command string. You may have specified a number where a string was expected, or vice versa.

Example: TRIG:COUN ’150’ or TRIG:COUN A

-105GET not allowed

A Group Execute Trigger (GET) is not allowed within a command string.

-108Parameter not allowed

More parameters were received than expected for the command. You may have entered an extra parameter, or you added a parameter to a command that does not accept a parameter. Example: READ? 10

-109Missing parameter

Fewer parameters were received than expected for the command. You omitted one or more parameters that are required for this command. Example: SAMP:COUN
