LAN Emulation Components in Your Network
Each Emulated LAN consists of a single LANE Service, and a number of LAN Emulation clients.
A LANE Service consists of:
■A LAN Emulation Server (LES)
■A Broadcast and Unknown Server (BUS)
■Optional LAN Emulation Configuration Server (LECS).
Figure 2-2 shows a logical view of a typical ELAN.

You may wish to have more than one LECS on your network for security reasons. For example, you may wish the Finance department to be controlled by one LECS and the rest of your network to be controlled by a different LECS.
LAN Emulation and IBM Devices
LAN Emulation components are implemented in ATM devices. The LAN Emulation standards (referenced in the Bibliography) do not specify how each vendor implements each of these components.
