Introduction
This chapter provides information about powering up the MVME240x system, and functionality of the switches, status indicators, and I/O ports on the front panels of the MVME240x and PMCspan modules.
Applying Power
After you have verified that all necessary hardware preparation has been done, that all connections have been made correctly, and that the installation is complete, you can power up the system. The MPU, hardware, and firmware initialization process is performed by the PPCBug firmware
The firmware is shipped from the factory with an appropriate set of defaults. In most cases there is no need to modify the firmware configuration before you boot the operating system. Refer to Chapter 6 for further information about modifying defaults.
