some information about the reception in progress, in- cluding your correspondent's fax number or, if pro- grammed, his name.

Once the document has been received, the display shows the message "RX COMPLETED" for a few sec- onds and then the initial stand-by mode.

AUTOMATIC RECEPTION

After the number of rings programmed, the fax machine prepares to receive a document. The document is re- ceived as in manual reception mode.

AUTOMATIC RECEPTION WITH RECOGNITION OF THE

TYPE OF CALL

The action taken by the fax machine in this reception mode depends on who is calling:

- If the caller is another fax machine, your fax ma- chine automatically prepares to receive a docu- ment.

-If the call is being made from a telephone, after the number of rings programmed, the fax machine will beep for about 20 seconds, the cordless phone will start ringing and the display of the fax machine will show the message "LIFT HANDSET". If you do not lift the receiver within 20 seconds, the fax machine automatically prepares to receive a docu- ment.

If you lift the receiver before the fax machine connects to the telephone line and you hear the dialling tone, proceed as follows:

1.Press the key:

2.Hang up.

RECEIVING A DOCUMENT FROM THE CORDLESS

PHONE

If, when a call is received, you pick up the call before

the fax machine by pressing the key on the cordless phone, and you hear the caller’s fax tone,

keep pressed for more than 1.5 seconds the key :

the fax machine automatically prepares to receive the document.

note

Any kind of reception may be aborted by pressing the

key on the fax machine. The fax machine will then return to stand-by mode.

No reception may however be aborted from the cord- less phone.

PHONE BOOK

The fax and the cordless phone can also store several numbers and associate a name to them, thus creating a shared phone book which not only saves time but also elimi- nates the risk of making mistakes in dialling numbers.

In addition, for the fax machine only, the telephone number or fax number that you associated with each of the 10 numeric keys of the fax (0 - 9) may be dialled quickly simply by pressing and holding down the relevant key for more than a second.

NOTe

The phone book is shared by the fax machine and the cord- less phone. Remember, however, that if you are program- ming or consulting the phone book on one of the devices, you cannot access it on the other.

NOTe

In addition, when programming it, remember that the fax ma- chine allows you to select the position in which the contact is to be saved in the phone book (00-59), while the cordless does not support this function (the position is selected auto- matically).
