RAM | Random Access Memory. Volatile memory |
| within the NIC that contains current/ |
| working settings. Settings are lost once the |
| power is removed. |
RARP | Reverse Address Resolution Protocol. |
| Allows a network device to discover its IP |
| address dynamically upon bootup. The IP |
| address does not need to be stored within |
| the device itself permanently. |
