2 out of 5 Interleaved The character complement of the 2 out of 5 Interleaved code comprises:
– 10 digits: 0 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9
– Start/stop characters: :/; </=
The number of characters is variable but must be even. If the number of characters is odd,
a 0 is prefixed to make it even.
The start/stop characters are programmed with the characters : and ;. Alter natively, the
characters < and = can be used as start/stop characters.
In the plain text line, the characters : and ; or < and = are printed for start/stop.
The symbol layout is self-checking. A check digit is not required. If a check digit is to be
used, it must be programmed in the application (and must be modulo 10 with a weighting
of 3).
The ratio of wide to narrow elements should be between 2.0 and 3.0. A ratio of 2.5 is recom-
mended for applications.
The blank zone before and after the barcode symbol should be at least 10 times th e width
of a narrow element.
