Troubleshooting

Cleaning the Imaging Unit and Laser Lens

If prints have voids or light streaks through one or more color, use the following instructions to clean the imaging unit and laser lens.

Note: Do not use warm water or cleaning solvents to remove toner from your skin or clothing. Warm water sets the toner and make it difficult to remove. If toner gets on your skin or clothing, brush it off, blow it off, or wash it off with cold water and mild soap.

CAUTION: Do not expose the imaging unit to strong light, and minimize its exposure to light in general to five minutes or less if possible.

1.Switch off the printer at the power switch located on the left side of the printer toward the back.

2.Wait until the printer has cooled (about 40 minutes).

3.Remove Tray 1 and set it aside.

4.Open the printer by pressing the front cover button on the right side of the printer near the top.

5.Fold down the transfer belt unit, being careful not to touch its shiny surface.

6.Using a flashlight, inspect the gaps in the imaging unit and remove any paper debris from the area.
