2.mecalux-SLAVE function with preflash sup- pression:
| This SLAVE mode is especially suitable for digital | ||
| cameras with a measuring preflash function: Various | ||
| digital camera models fire a measuring preflash frac- | ||
| tions of a second before the actual shot. To ensure | ||
that the mecablitz is not triggered as a result of this
preflash, the SLAVE function selector | must be set
| to position 2 so that the mecablitz will only be trigge- | ||
| red by the main flash. Light control is performed on | ||
| the SLAVE flash unit depending on the setting of the | ||
| operating mode selector | (auto mode A or manual | |
| mode M; for details see | ||
Activating the mecalux-SLAVE mode with preflash suppression:
•Mount and set up the SLAVE unit in the described man- ner.
• Turn on the SLAVE unit with the main switch .
• Set the SLAVE function selector | in Position 2 (see fig.
10). The SLAVE indicator | on the mecablitz will light up
and at one second intervals it will be interrupted by two brief pauses (SLAVE indicator 2 is briefly turned off twi- ce).
• Select auto mode A or manual mode M with the opera- ting mode selector on the SLAVE unit.
•Activate the controller mounted on the camera. Set flash synch speed or a slower shutter speed on the camera.
☞NOTE: The SLAVE unit only reacts to light pul- ses from the controlling master within a speci- fic period (fractions of a second). This makes the mecablitz almost insensible to flashes from other photographers who are not working with the measuring preflash method.
3.SLAVE function with cordless Metz remote system
| This SLAVE mode is exclusively intended for the cord- | ||
| less Metz remote system. The controlling master | ||
| flash unit on the camera must support the cordless | ||
| Metz remote system (only mecablitz 40 | ||
| |||
sponding operating mode (see the operating instruc-
| |||
| tions for the given controller). The light output is con- | ||
| trolled by the camera (Metz TTL remote system) or by | ||
| a sensor integrated in the controller (Metz automatic | ||
| remote system). The position of the operating mode | ||
| selector | on the mecablitz is irrelevant. | |
