To check the preset date and time
Press DATE to display the date indicator in the viewfinder.
Press TIME to display the time indicator. Press DATE and TIME to display the date and time indicators. When you press the same button again, the indicator goes off.
The year indicator changes as follows:

Usable cassettes and playback modes
Selecting cassette types
This Hi8 system is an extension of the standard 8
mmsystem, and was developed for higher- quality pictures.
You can use Hi8 video and standard 8 mm cassettes. When you use a Hi8 video cassette, the recording is in the Hi8 system. When you use a standard 8mm cassette, the recording is in the standard 8 mm system. You cannot record on standard 8 mm cassettes in the Hi8 system.
If you are going to play back the tape using a standard 8mm video recorder/player, you should use standard 8 mm cassettes.
