BlackBerry Enterprise Server for Microsoft Exchange Upgrade Guide

In a mixed-version environment that includes BlackBerry Enterprise Server Version 3.6 and earlier and BlackBerry Enterprise Server Version 4.0 or later, the BlackBerry Mobile Data Service push server must be Version 4.0 or later.

The BlackBerry Enterprise Server Version 3.6 and earlier uses different locations to store the BlackBerry Mobile Data Service files and uses different tables in the BlackBerry Configuration Database. You can only push application data to user accounts on a BlackBerry Enterprise Server Version 4.0 or later from a BlackBerry Mobile Data Service push server at Version 4.0 or later.

In a mixed-version environment that includes BlackBerry Enterprise Server Version 4.1 and earlier, the BlackBerry MDS Connection Service central push server must be Version 4.1.

BlackBerry Enterprise Server Version 4.1.2 or later considerations

In a mixed-version environment that includes BlackBerry components at Version 4.1.2 or later, the BlackBerry Manager must not be at a higher version than the BlackBerry Configuration Database.
