A microphone (not supplied) can be connected to this unit, allowing you to sing along to music sources.

Use a microphone with a mini plug (ø3.5 mm, 1/8 inch).

1Connect your microphone to the MIC jack.

2Press one of the function buttons to select the source to be mixed, and play the source.

3Adjust the volume and tone of the source.

4Adjust the microphone volume.

Press MODE repeatedly until "MIC" is displayed, and within 6 seconds, move CURSOR i or k to adjust the microphone volume.

The microphone volume can be set to "OFF" (the microphone is turned off), 1 to 6, and "MAX" (maximum).

5Adjust the echo volume.

Press MODE repeatedly until "ECHO" is displayed, and within 6 seconds, move CURSOR ior kto adjust the echo volume. The echo volume can be set to "OFF" (the echo effect is turned off), 1 to 6, and "MAX" (maximum).

When not using the microphone

Set the microphone volume to "OFF" and remove the microphone from the MIC jack.

NOTE

If a microphone is held too near the speakers, a howling sound may be produced. In this case, hold the microphone away from the speakers, or decrease the microphone volume.

If sound through the microphone is extremely loud, it may be distorted. In this case, decrease the microphone volume.

The microphone and echo volume are set to "OFF" when the function is changed or the unit is turned off.

Recommended microphones

The use of unidirectional type microphones is recommended to prevent howling. Contact your local AIWA dealer for details.

This unit can use discs as Karaoke sources. Use the vocal fader function for ordinary discs.

Use the multiplex function for Karaoke multi-audio CDs.

NOTE

To use DVD Karaoke discs, see "USING DVD KARAOKE DISCS", page 35.

1Press MODE repeatedly until "VF OFF" is displayed.

2Within 6 seconds, move CURSOR ior kto select

the vocal fader or multiplex function.

Moving CURSOR ichanges the function cyclically as follows, and moving it k, vice versa:

1VF OFF (no vocal fader)

2 VF (vocal fader activated)

3 Auto-VF (automatic vocal fader)

When there is a sound input from the microphone, the unit turns to the VF mode. When there is no sound input from the microphone, it switches to the VF OFF mode automatically.

4 MPX-Lch/Rch

(multiplex function - left/right channel)

When "MPX-Lch" is selected, only the sound on the left channel is heard.

When "MPX-Rch" is selected, only the sound on the right channel is heard.

To change the channel, press ENTER while "MPX-Lch" or "MPX-Rch" is displayed.

5 Auto-MPX (automatic multiplex function)

Normally, the multiplex function is turned off. When the sound input level from the microphone becomes a certain value, the unit turns to the MPX-Lch or MPX- Rch mode.

Note on the "Auto-VF" and "Auto-MPX"mode

You can change the period of time until the unit turns automatically to the VF mode or to the MPX mode.

While "Auto-VF" or "Auto-MPX" is displayed, press ENTER so that "FAST" or "SLOW" is displayed.

Select "FAST" so that the unit turns to the VF mode or MPX mode within a shorter period of time .

Select "SLOW" so that the unit turns to the VF mode or MPX mode within a longer period of time.

To operate with the remote control

Press KARAOKE repeatedly while pressing SHIFT to select the vocal fader or multiplex function.

NOTE

The Karaoke functions may not operate correctly with the following kinds of discs.

-Those with monaural sound

-Those recorded with strong echoes

-Those with the vocal part recorded on the right or left side of the sound width

While the Karaoke function is on, the sound is output as monaural.

The vocal fader function is set to "VF OFF" when the function is changed or the unit is turned off.
