CUSTOMIZING
DVD SETUP
Various default settings related to the disc player, the built-in
monitor screen and the external TV screen can be changed as
needed or preferred.
OVERVIEW OF THE SETUPMENU
There are 7 major menu items that can be adjusted. Their function
are as follows:

1 On-screen Menu (page 41)

Sets the on-screen guide display on or off.
Selects a background color for the monitor screen.

2 Disc Languages (page 42)

Selects the preferred audio soundtrack language, subtitle
language and menu screen language for DVD play.

3 Audio Output Setting (page 43)

Adjusts the type of signal output from the DIGITAL AUDIO OUT
(OPTICAL) jack and the LINE OUT jacks.

4 TV Aspect (page 45)

Sets the aspect ratio of the video signal sent to the connected
TV set.

5 Ratings (page 46)

Sets the rating limit of DVDs allowed to play on this unit when
playing discs with restriction level encoding.
With discs that include scenes with excessive violence, for
example, this setting can be used either to automatically cut
such scenes or to disable play altogether, depending on the
disc.

6 PBC (page 47)

Sets your preferred setting to turn the PBC (PlayBack Control)
function for video CDs on or off.

7 Disc Resume (page 47)

Sets whether the disc resume memory is retained after power
off, opening of the disc door, or switching of the function.
The "Audio Output Setting" and the "TV Aspect" setting need
to be set specifically to match your configuration of connected
equipment.
Changing the default "Digital Stream" and "dts Output" settings
under "Audio Output Setting" may be needed
only if you are
connecting an external decoder or amplifier
.
If not, do not change its default setting.
• The default "TV Aspect" setting has to be changed
if the
connected TV has a conventional size screen (4:3)
.
Any other setting can be changed or kept as is, according to
your preferences.

Press DVD/CD.
If the loaded disc starts to play, stop it.

Press SET UP.

The setup screen is displayed.

Use i/k to move the cursor (the yellow-

highlighted area) to the setting to be changed.

Press ENTER.
The menu screen for the item you selected will be displayed.

Use i/k to mo ve the cursor to the desired setting.

Press ENTER to enter your selection.

The selected setting will be saved, and the display returns to
the main setup screen of step 2.
For some settings, however, the screen will display a more
detailed menu. Follow the directions shown on the screen.

Press SET UP to exit the setup menu.

To return to the previous screen

Press vRETURN.

To exit the setup menu

Press SET UP.

To confirm your setting

1Follow steps 1 to 4 above to display the setting you want to
confirm.
2Press SET UP to exit the setup menu without making changes.
NOTE
If you press vRETURN or SET UP before pressing ENTER to
enter your selection, you return to the previous screen or exit
the setup menu, respectively, without saving your selection.
Opening the disc door exits the setup menu without saving your
selection.
