Reconciling the Dial Plan
When changes have been made to the switch’s dial plan, it is necessary to run the reconciliation program to resynchronize the switch’s dial plan (System Numbering Plan) and the Extension Directory database.
When you reconcile the dial plan, the following actions occur:
■Extensions that appear both on the switch and in the Extension Directory database do not change.
■Extensions that appear on the switch but do not appear in the Extension Directory database are added to the Extension Directory database.
■Extensions that appear in the Extension Directory database as regular extensions (that is, not special) but do not appear on the switch are deleted from the Extension Directory database. If they are AUDIX Voice Power subscribers, they are also deleted from the AUDIX Voice Power database.
■Extensions that appear in the Extension Directory database as “special extensions” but do not appear on the switch remain in the Extension Directory database.
■Extensions that appear in the Extension Directory database as “special extensions” and also appear on the switch are converted from special extensions to regular extensions.
An example of when this capability might be used is when the System Manager is renumbering an extension for an AUDIX Voice Power subscriber. After the extension has been renumbered in the switch, the System Manager can run the reconciliation program immediately so that the subscriber's new extension number is known to the Extension Directory. This assures the subscriber of uninterrupted voice messaging service.
