Figure 6-1. A two-unit ServSwitch Multi system.

To successfully configure and install your expanded ServSwitch Multi system, you will need to figure out all of these things:

1.Where to put your ServSwitch Multi units and how to interconnect them (see Section 6.1—also Chapter 7 if your system includes any ServSwitch Multi Hub).

2.How you are going to distribute your Expansion Cards and your computers, console equipment, serial control devices, and associated Interface, Serial Control, and Management Cards among the Switches (see Section 6.2).

3.What addresses and distance you’re going to configure your Expansion Cards for, and how you will do this (see Section 6.3).

4.How to install your Expansion Cards (see Section 6.4) and Cables (see Section 6.5) and visually inspect your system-in-progress (see Section 6.6).

5.Lastly, of course, how to install your User-Interface Cards (see Chapter 3), your CPU-Interface Cards (see Chapter 4), and, if any, your Management and Serial Cards (see Chapter 5).
