CHAPTER 7: The ServSwitch Multi Hub
The Hub, shown in Figure 7-2, is a rackmountable chassis that’s 9U (15.75", 40 cm) high. It contains two power supplies, two fan assemblies, and as many as nine total Transmit Modules and Receive Modules. The power supplies are fully redundant and hot-swappable, so you can replace one at any time without powering down the system. Fan assemblies are also hot-swappable, but both are needed to cool a fully loaded Hub chassis.
Each Transmit or Receive Module contains 16 pairs of RJ-45 female connectors. One RJ-45 of each pair accepts the Category 5 video cable from the video (bottom) RJ-45 connector of an expansion port on a CAT5 Expansion Card installed in a ServSwitch Multi EXP, SB, Base Unit, or MX. The other RJ-45 of each pair accepts the Category 5 keyboard/mouse cable from the same expansion port’s keyboard/mouse (middle) RJ-45 connector. (The ServSwitch Multi Hub doesn’t support connections involving the multimedia [serial and audio, top] RJ-45 connector of these expansion ports; ServSwitch Multi systems that use Hubs carry keyboard, video, and mouse signals only.)
