This chapter builds on the previous chapter and introduces more ways to shoot creatively.

The first half of this chapter explains how to use the <s> <f> <a> <8> modes on the Mode Dial. Except for <8>, all the shooting modes can be used in combination with the functions introduced in Chapter 3. The second half of this chapter, starting with “Changing the Metering Mode” explains the methods to adjust the exposure and the Picture Styles. All the functions introduced in this chapter can also be used with the <d> (Program AE) mode introduced in Chapter 3.

About the Main Dial Pointer

The pointer icon <> displayed together with the shutter speed, aperture setting, or exposure compensation amount indicates that you can turn the <6> dial to adjust the respective setting.
