Guidelines for Entering Information

3

CHAPTER

The following section explains how to enter user information into the machine.

NOTE

If you pause while entering information and do not make an entry for more than a specified period of time, the machine returns to standby mode and loses all information you had entered up to that point. You will then have to start again. The time until the machine returns to the standby mode can be specified in a range of 1 to 9 minutes. You can also turn off the AUTO CLEAR function. (See Chapter 16, “The Menu System.”)

Entering Numbers, Letters, and Symbols

Each numeric button has a number and a group of uppercase and lowercase letters assigned to it. Use the chart below to determine which numeric button to press for each character.

NOTE

The characters that appear when you press the numeric buttons differ depending on the display language you select. For details on selecting the display language, see “Setting the Display Language and Country*,” on p. 2-10.
