rename

Renames the configuration file to config.text.old.

 

 

Before continuing to the next command, power up

 

Example:

any connected stack members and wait until they

 

Switch: rename flash:config.text

have completely initialized.

 

flash:config.text.old

 

Step 7

 

 

boot [-x] [-v] [device:][imagename]

Use the boot command to boot up an external process.

 

Example:

 

 

Switch: boot

 

Step 8

 

 

copy flash:

Copies the configuration file into memory.

 

Example:

 

 

Switch: copy flash:config.text

 

 

system:running-config

 

Step 9

 

 

configure terminal

Enters global configuration mode.

 

Example:

 

 

Switch# configure terminal

 

Step 10

 

 

enable secret password

Sets the password.

 

 

The secret password can be from 1 to 25

 

Example:

alphanumeric characters.

 

Switch(config): enable secret 5

It can start with a number.

It is case sensitive.

 

 

It allows spaces but ignores leading spaces.

Step 11

 

 

exit

Returns you to privileged EXEC mode.

 

Example:
