Broadcast and Unknown Server (BUS): A BUS handles broadcast data sent by a LAN emulation client, all multicast data, and data sent by a LAN emulation client before the ATM address has been resolved.

Figure 7–1 shows an ATM network with two emulated LANs. Hosts A and B are LECs on ELAN1. Hosts C, D, and E are LECs on ELAN2. The LECS, the LES, and the BUS are server functions resident on the ATM switch (even though they are shown separately).

Use LAN emulation over ATM in a TruCluster Server cluster for client system access (Memory Channel is the cluster interconnect).

7.2 Installing ATM Adapters

_____________________ Warning _____________________

Some fiber optic equipment can emit laser light that can injure your eyes. Never look into an optical fiber or connector port. Always assume the cable is connected to a light source.

______________________ Note _______________________

Do not touch the ends of the fiber optics cable. The oils from your skin can cause an optical power loss.
