Cleaning Jet Outs

7.Clean the service station as described in “Cleaning the Ser- vice Station” on page 5-5.

8.On the control panel Front Page screen, press the ￿ (Proceed) key to park the printhead carriage into the service station.

The Jet Status Lines test provides a quick method of determining the effectiveness of (or the need for) cleaning. This test prints a pattern of lines, each segment of which corresponds a single jet. If there are any missing segments in the lines, then a cleaning is recommended. If, however, the lines appear solid and consistent, then cleaning is most likely not required at this time.

The Jet Status Lines function is on the Calibrate Printer - Manual Calibrations menu.

If output, prime bars, or calibrations indicate excessive missing jets (jet outs), try recovering these jets as follows:

1.Fill a small ultrasonic jewelry cleaner with hot tap water.

2.Place the printhead in ultrasonic cleaner, until just the jet ori- fice plate is submerged, for five minutes.

3.Purge 5-10 ml of ink from the printhead.
