This section describes general troubleshooting information for 9840 tape drives and media.

Cleaning Issues

 

 

 

Cleaning cartridge ejects immediately

The cleaning cartridge has reached its end of life.

original tape is suspect and you may need to replace

 

it.

 

If this fails, perform an Initial Program Load (IPL). See

 

Initializing and Resetting the Library on

 

page 69.

 

If the problem persists, the drive may be suspect -

 

contact your service representative.

 

 

A tape drive failed power on and cannot

Retry power and the IPL (see Initializing and

exit the IPL mode.

The IPL failed.

Initiate IPL again.

Media Issues

A tape cartridge is stuck in the drive.
