Replacing supplies and parts

Carefully follow the guidelines in this section when replacing printer supplies or parts. The transfer unit, fuser, and pickup roller are printer parts designed to last the lifetime of the printer. However, if these parts become damaged, they should be replaced.

Locating supplies and parts

Supplies and parts are identified by labeling and blue plastic handles.

The following figure illustrates the location of each supply item and part.

Supply replacement guidelines

To facilitate the replacement of supplies, keep the following guidelines in mind when setting up the printer.

Sufficient space is required above and in the front of the printer for removing supplies.

The printer should be located on a flat, sturdy surface.

CAUTION

Hewlett-Packard recommends the use of HP products in this printer. Use of non-HP products

 

may cause problems requiring service that is not covered by the Hewlett-Packard warranty or

 

service agreements.

Changing print cartridges

When a print cartridge approaches the end of useful life, the control panel displays a message recommending that you order a replacement. The printer can continue to print using the current print cartridge until the control panel displays a message instructing you to replace the cartridge.
