Temporary Instant Capacity for Unlicensed Processors

Temporary Instant Capacity Exceptions

Example 5-6 Error Message for Temporary Capacity Partial Enforcement

To: root@par1.yourorg.com

Subject: iCOD license enforcement notice

This message is being sent to inform you that, due to expiration of temporary capacity, 1 additional CPUs were deactivated on your iCOD system (containing the partition par1) to bring the system into compliance with iCOD licensing.

Prior to deactivation, the number of processor licenses distributed among the partitions exceeded the number of available licenses by 3.

Also, 3 unlicensed CPUs were found to be active in the complex. This state was likely the result of having activated iCOD processors using temporary capacity (TiCOD) and then allowing the TiCOD balance to expire prior to deactivation of the processors.

As a result, 1 licenses were revoked and 1 processors were deactivated in conjunction with the revocation of the licenses.

There are currently 3 active CPUs and 1 CPU licenses. This complex is not compliant with iCOD licensing. Other partitions may also experience processor deactivation upon reboot until compliance is restored. To bring the system back into compliance now, perform one or more of the following steps:

1.Purchase and apply additional temporary capacity.

2.Deactivate processors until no processors are consuming temporary capacity.

3.Purchase the number of processors consuming temporary capacity and apply the Right-to-Use licenses to the system so that they can be permanently activated.

To activate these 1 processors again, you can perform one of the following actions:

1.Purchase a new TiCOD license, apply it to the system, and use TiCOD to activate the processors.

2.Deactivate processors in other partitions after the system is in compliance. This frees up the licenses associated with the processors and allows them to be activated here.

You can view the current temporary capacity compliance of your system by using the icod_stat command.
