12.5.Assignment Using RARP

1Power Off the Intermate1xx. If the unit is attached to a printer, it is best that the printer is powered On.

2Add the following lines to the [ /etc/ethers ] file or

[ /etc/rarpd.cf ] file: Note that the MAC address is written

with colons : as separators between every two characters.

[ /etc/ethers ] file

cUpdate your host table and alias name data bases.

dStart the RARP daemon, if it is not already running.

rarpd -a

3Make sure the Intermate1xx is attached to the LAN and power it on.

4Connect and Login to the unit with the tool of your choice.

5Choose [TCP/IP].

a Disable BOOTP and check to be sure that DHCP is still disabled.

b If it is not possible for Intermate1xx to obtain the mask from the network, you must type in a Subnet Mask.

c If automatic routing (RIP) is not used in your environment, type in the Default Gateway.
