Chapter 9

Installing and Managing J-series Licenses

To enable some JUNOS software features on a J-series Services Router, you must purchase, install, and manage separate software licenses. The presence on the router of the appropriate software license keys (passwords) determines the features you can configure and use. For those features that require a license, the presence on the router of the appropriate software license keys (passwords) determines whether you can use the feature.

For information about how to purchase J-series software licenses, contact your Juniper Networks sales representative.

License Enforcement

For features that require a license, you must install and properly configure the license to use the feature. Although the router allows you to commit a configuration that specifies a feature requiring a license when the license is not present, you are prohibited from actually using the feature.

Successful commitment of a configuration does not imply that the required licenses are installed. If a required license is not present, the system provides a warning
