The 8-port and 16-port Gigabit Ethernet uPIMs, shown in Figure 24 on page 50 and Figure 25 on page 50, have RJ-45 connectors.

Features. Gigabit Ethernet uPIMs provide the following key features:

■The multiport uPIMs can be used as switches in the access layer (for connections to workstations and desktops). For more information, see theJ-series Services Router Basic LAN and WAN Access Configuration Guide.

■Link speed for 8-port and 16-port Gigabit Ethernet uPIMs is configurable to 10, 100, or 1000 Mbps, and transmission mode is configurable to half or full duplex. The 1-port and 6-port SFP Gigabit Ethernet uPIMs cannot be manually configured—they are set at 1000 Mbps and full duplex.

■Autonegotiation.

■1-port and 6-port Gigabit Ethernet uPIMs use SFP transceivers to allow different connectors to be used on uPIM ports. These SFP Gigabit Ethernet uPIMs support
