Change the resolution to a higher value

1From the Finder desktop, double-click the Lexmark 5000 Series folder.

2Double-click the Lexmark 5000 Series Center icon.

3Click Preview/Edit to open the Scan dialog.

4From the dialog, click Preview.

5Reload the document into the ADF, and then click Close on the reminder dialog.

Note: Click on the check box on the reminder dialog if you do not want this dialog to reappear until you reopen the application.

6Click to open the Scan Settings drawer.

7From the Resolution (DPI) pop-up menu on the Settings tab, choose a higher scanning resolution value.

8Click .

Are you scanning from a magazine or newspaper?

If you are copying or scanning from a magazine or newspaper, see “Scanning clear images from magazines or newspapers” on page 75.

Check quality of original document

If the quality of the original document is not satisfactory, try using a clearer version of the document or image.

Check document placement

Make sure the document or photo is loaded facedown into the Automatic Document Feeder (ADF).

Partial document or photo scans

These are possible solutions. Try one or more of the following:

Check document placement

Make sure the document or photo is loaded facedown in the Automatic Document Feeder (ADF) and centered between the ADF paper guides.

Check paper size

Make sure the paper size being used matches the size you selected.

Check Original Size setting

Make sure the Original Size setting is Automatic or the size of the original document you are scanning.

Cannot scan to an application

Select a different application

1From the error dialog, click Cancel.

2From the All-In-One Center, choose a different application from the “Send scanned image to” menu.
