Note: By default, Show preview when Scan button pressed on the printer is selected.

1From the Finder desktop, double-click the Lexmark 5000 Series folder.

2Double-click the Lexmark 5000 Series Center icon.

Performing scanning and related tasks

Scanning a document

1Make sure the printer is connected to a computer, and both the printer and the computer are on.

2Load an original document facedown into the Automatic Document Feeder (ADF).

For help on loading a document into the ADF, see “Loading original documents into the Automatic Document Feeder”.

3From the control panel, press Scan Mode.

4Press or repeatedly until the destination to which you want to scan appears.

5Press Start Color or Start Black.

6From the dialog, select Preview.

7Reload the document into the ADF, and then click Close on the reminder dialog.

Note: Click on the check box on the reminder dialog if you do not want this dialog to reappear until you reopen the application.

8To edit, crop, or adjust the brightness of the document, click Scan Settings on the Scan dialog. For help on how to customize scan settings, see “Customizing scan settings from the Scan dialog”.

9Click Scan on the Scan dialog.

10From the “Save As” menu, enter a file name.

11From the Where pop-up menu, choose a destination for the scanned item.

12From the “Format for” pop-up menu, choose a file type.

13Click OK.
