Scanning a text-only document
1Make sure the printer is connected to a computer, and both the printer and the computer are on.
2Load an original document facedown into the Automatic Document Feeder (ADF).
3From the Finder desktop,
4Double-click the Lexmark 5000 Series Center icon.
5From the “What is being scanned?” menu, choose Black Text.
6Adjust the settings as needed.
7Click Scan.

Scanning a text and graphics document
1Make sure the printer is connected to a computer, and both the printer and the computer are on.
2Load an original document facedown into the Automatic Document Feeder (ADF).
3From the Finder desktop,
4Double-click the Lexmark 5000 Series Center icon.
5From the “What is being scanned?” menu, choose Mixed Graphics and Text.
6Adjust the settings as needed.
7Click Scan.
