Storing the toner cartridges and photoconductor units

Store toner cartridges and photoconductor units in their original packaging until the time for their installation.

Do not store toner cartridges and photoconductor units in:

Temperatures greater than 40°C (104°F).

An environment with extreme changes in humidity or temperature.

Direct sunlight.

Dusty places.

A car for a long period of time.

An environment where corrosive gases are present.

An environment with salty air.

Warning: Store the photoconductor units within 10 minutes of removing them to avoid overexposing them to light and do not touch the shiny photoconductor drum.

Replacing the toner cartridges

When one of the following messages appears on the operator panel, the toner cartridge must be replaced soon: 88 Cyan cartridge low, 88 Magenta cartridge low, 88 Yellow cartridge low, 88 Black cartridge low. Make sure the appropriate toner cartridge is ordered. Replace the toner cartridge when the 88 Replace Cyan cartridge, 88 Replace Magenta cartridge, 88 Replace Yellow cartridge, or 88 Replace Black cartridge message appears.

Toner cartridges must remain in this order; they are not interchangeable in the slots. Notice the labels on the right side of the toner cartridges. From top to bottom, the labels mean:

YYellow

C Cyan

MMagenta

K Black

To replace a toner cartridge, see the Replacing a toner cartridge sheet that comes with a replacement cartridge.

Once the toner cartridge is replaced, follow the instructions located in the new toner cartridge box to recycle the used toner cartridge.

When you return a used toner cartridge, you contribute to a worldwide recycling effort at no cost to you.

For best results, use Lexmark supplies with the printer. Damage caused to the printer by use of third-party supplies is not covered under your Lexmark printer warranty.
