With insert editing, an audio IN point can be set slightly ahead of the video IN point. (Audio split editing)

Split edit display lamp A SP or V SP
1 For audio split editing (video reference), select “AUDIO” as the setup menu item No.375 (SPLIT EDIT) setting; for video split editing (audio reference), select “VIDEO.”
2 Turn on the video insert (V button).
3 Select the channels into which the audio signals will be inserted using the A1 button, A2 button, A3 ([SHIFT] + [A1]) button and A4 ([SHIFT] + [A2]) button.
4 Set the IN points of VTR1 and VTR2.
With audio split editing, the video IN point is set; with video split editing, the audio IN point is set. The IN lamp of the edit point setting display lamps lights.
<Note>
Steps 5, 6 and 7 can be skipped by pressing the [SHIFT] + [MARK IN] button after step 4.
5 Press the SPLIT button to light the LED above the button.
6 Search the split IN point (audio IN point for audio split editing or video IN point for video split editing) in VTR1 or VTR2, and press the MARK IN button to set the point.
The split edit point setting display lamp lights for the VTR for which the split point was set, and the A SP or V SP lamp lights.
7 Press the SPLIT button again.
The LED above the SPLIT button now starts flashing to indicate that the split point has been set.
8 Set the OUT point of VTR1 or VTR2. (Alternatively,
9 Press the AUTO EDIT button to execute editing. (Alternatively, preview can be performed.)
<Note>
When the DUR button is pressed while the LED above the SPLIT button is lighted, the split amount is shown on the counter display.
